About CTTC

The Counter Terrorism Technology Centre is a key component of Canada’s ability to respond to domestic and international chemical, biological and radiological, nuclear and explosive (CBRNE) incidents.

The CTTC, part of Defence Research and Development Canada – Suffield, is located near Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada. The CTTC takes advantage of the extensive research and development knowledge base cultivated over 60 years at DRDC Suffield. Unique laboratories, testing facilities and an extensive experimental proving ground provide unparalleled capabilities unavailable anywhere else in North America.


History

In response to world events, the Counter Terrorism Technology Centre was announced in December 2001, formed the following year, and began active training of first responders in 2003. More Information . . .


CTTC Facilities

The Counter Terrorism Technology Centre (CTTC) at DRDC Suffield uses highly specialized facilities to combat specific CBRNE threats. Because of the physical and environmental danger involved with these agents, facilities have been equipped to allow personnel to train within a safe environment while maintaining the fidelity required for training.
